General Information:

The Learn To Swim Program at Lakewood Aquatics is run year round at the new Aquatics facility at Cerritos College. The pool is an outdoor pool and is heated year round.

Classes are 30 minutes for Beginnning, Intermediate and Advanced swimmers.  Beginning February 2012, lessons will be held on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. The classes are scheduled between 5:00 pm and 7:00 pm.

The group size is limited to a maximum of four students, and our trained instructors are in the water with the swimmers. The program is available to children ages 3 years and older.

Our instructors are experienced at working with reluctant swimmers and are not surprised or worried about a little fussing or separation anxiety during the first few lessons. The instructors concentrate on making lessons fun and making the swimmers comfortable, no matter what their age.  No special suits or equipment are needed for swimming lessons although goggles are recommended.  Swimmers with long hair should wear a cap or pull it back in a pony-tail.

Whether your swimmer needs to learn to float and swim to the side in order to be safe around a pool, work on learning the basics of the four strokes, or improve their stroke technique in order to be placed on the team, these goals will be accomplished quickly in the learn-to-swim classes.

Fees:
The cost is an average of $64.00 per month ($8 per lesson) and fees are due at the beginning of each month.  Lessons are held on Mondays and Wednesdays, or 60 minute lessons may be scheduled for Fridays only.  There are no refunds, only lesson credit.  Each family is allowed one lesson credit (1-lesson make-up) per session.  MAKEUP DAYS are determined by the coordinator based on pool availability - please contact for times.

In order to enroll with the Learn to Swim program at Lakewood Aquatics, each swimmer must have a USA Swimming registration as they provide our insurance. Every swimmer must be insured in order for all to be covered.   The cost is $55 and is due at sign-up.  USA Swimming membership is annual and ALL renewals occur in the month of December. (The annual membership to USA Swimming is transferable to the Lakewood Aquatics swim team should your swimmer move from the Learn to Swim program to the Team.)  The USA Swimming Registration form is only available from the Coordinator - it is not part of the packet below.

If you have questions or wish to register, please contact the Lakewood Aquatics Learn to Swim Coordinator at lessons@lakewoodaquatics.org or call 562-370-6654.
