Swim Team Program
Information and Fees
Lakewood Aquatics

General Information:
Lakewood Aquatics is a year-round swim program for children of all ages. We provide a safe, healthy environment for kids to learn the benefits of committment, teamwork and personal goal setting through competitive swimming.

The team is comprised of eight groups which are seperated by age. At the try out the coach will decide whether or not a child will need to temporarily attend workouts with swimmers in a different age group in order to learn proper sroke techniques.  Occasionally it is necessary for a child to enroll in our Learn To Swim Program prior to joining the competitive team.

Please refer to the Calendar page for workout and swim meet information.  Each group requires a different level of committment and thus attending practice on a regular basis a must. It is important for the entire family to understand the necessary committment and support the swimmer.

You may try the team for 5 days with no obligation to see if Lakewood Aquatics is right for you.  After your initial tryout you will have 5 consecutive days to train with the group that the coach has decided is best for you.  The training schedule is posted on the Calendar page.  There are occasional changes, so listen for coach announcements and read anything posted on the website or via email.  Swim gear or 'special' swim suits are not needed for the trial period but goggles are highly recommended.  Swimmers with long hair should pull it back in a pony tail or wear a swim cap.

The coaches evaluate new swimmers for the team Monday - Friday evenings at 5:10 pm at the Cerritos College Aquatics Center.  Ask for Coach Lucy or Coach Jessenia.  (Note:  Please check the "Coaches Updates" on the Calendar page for any pool schedule changes.)

**NEW - as of November 1, 2009 Lakewood Aquatics will no longer practice at Lakewood High School**

Cerritos College Aquatics Center is located on Alondra Blvd. just east of Studebaker - between the gym and tennis courts.  Parking is $2.00 per day or a permit can be puirchased at the Campus Police Office.  See MAP.
